From freelancers and unrest to profit-driven strategies and trust in ads on bol

Justin de Lange has now been active as a seller on bol for almost three years. After a difficult first year, his store began to grow significantly from the second year onwards. Through coaching and increased focus, he developed towards two core categories: baby products and car accessories.

To keep up with this growth, Justin tried various methods to manage his advertisements. Initially, he did it himself, and later he hired a freelancer. This seemed like a logical step but proved not to be a structural solution. The knowledge was inconsistent, the follow-up was not reliable, and performance was not closely managed. The advertisements kept running, but there was a lack of control over profit and direction.

At that point, Justin decided to take a different approach and partnered with Adyard.

Challenge

Justin was no longer looking for a temporary solution, but a structural approach. He wanted a partner who was close to the action, could monitor the daily situation, and make decisions based on data and profitability.

The main questions were:

  • How do we manage profit instead of just revenue

  • How do we prevent campaigns from running unchecked

  • And how do we create peace of mind without relying on individual freelancers

Additionally, Justin wanted advertisements to be part of a broader concept, which included titles, listings, and positioning.

Solution

Adyard completely took over the advertising management of MasonPro with one clear focus: driving profit, not volume. Instead of separate campaigns and reactive adjustments, a structured approach was chosen where every decision was backed by data.

Campaigns were restructured based on margin and return per product. Not every product was automatically scaled up. For each item, it was assessed whether advertising actually contributed to profitability. Where necessary, the budget was scaled back or paused to prevent waste.

In addition, Adyard looked beyond just advertisements. Titles, descriptions, and listing quality were also considered, ensuring that the advertising budget was only used on products with a strong foundation. Through regular contact points and transparent updates, MasonPro was kept continuously informed without needing to be operationally involved.

This approach ensured consistent management, better cost control, and an advertising process that was no longer dependent on individual freelancers or ad hoc decisions.

The Approach of Adyard

From the start, the difference was clear. Adyard did not operate as an isolated executor, but as a committed partner who continuously monitored the process. Campaigns were evaluated based on margin and yield, not volume.

The profit potential was assessed for each product. Based on this, it was determined whether campaigns should be scaled up, adjusted, or slowed down. Nothing proceeded automatically without a clear reason.

Moreover, Adyard looked beyond just advertisements. Titles, descriptions, and listing quality were also considered, ensuring that the advertising budget was not spent on a weak foundation.

The collaboration was tightly organized with regular contact moments, clear updates, and transparency over every change that was made.

Results and Impact

In the first two months of the collaboration, Justin saved between three thousand and four thousand euros on advertising costs. Costs that had previously been incurred without clear oversight were now retained within the company.

The revenue became somewhat more stable, and sometimes even slightly lower than before, but profitability increased visibly. ACOS was brought under control, and campaigns became predictable.

Products that had previously stalled received renewed attention through a combination of branding and better positioning. This revitalized categories that had previously faded away.

What This Meant for Justin

The biggest difference was peace of mind. Justin no longer had to check or fix advertisements daily. He knew that there was continuous thoughtful input and adjustment.

Where freelancers and previous parties caused uncertainty, the collaboration with Adyard brought trust and stability. Advertisements were no longer a separate task, but a reliable part of his business.

The collaboration with Adyard resulted in:

  • More control over profit instead of just revenue

  • Thousands of euros saved in the first months

  • Consistent management instead of variable freelance oversight

  • More peace of mind and confidence as an entrepreneur

For Justin, this meant not just better figures, but above all a sustainable way to continue growing.

We find the collaboration with Adyard very pleasant. The communication is clear and professional, and the results achieved are noticeable and of good quality. A reliable partner we are happy to work with.
